Vendor: Luxurious Hair Products Factory
Website:http://luxuriouswig.en.alibaba.com/
Order: 1 bundle of 20in Natural color Brazilian(However she thinks it is Chinese)

Comments:"I liked the texture because it reminded me of how my hair looked in a twist out. This hair was installed a two weeks ago for my trip, I had some tangling issues but I had bought a silicone based conditioner before I left so I was fine. I would say the hair tangled due to the fact its old I bought it in Jan 2011 and because I bleached it to get it to the color I wanted. Like I stated before I tend to mix my hair to me it gives me a more realistic look , that's just my opinion but everyone always thinks its my hair so it works for me." -  Alexiscymone(From Black Hair Media Forums)

Shipping and payment:"I received hair from the vendor quickly and the payment method was very secure they did not receive the money until I received my hair."

Alibaba/Aliexpress Hair Reviews

Alibaba/ Aliexpress is a GREAT place to get your virgin hair at. There are SO MANY different vendors on their for various things, that you don't know where to start. And for a new comer, that can be pretty over whelming I might think. I know for me, choosing the right vendor for me to spend my hard working money on( because I don't have much to begin with) was really time consuming. The things I looked for in a vendor, which I think all people should consider in their search consisted of a few qualities.
1. The vendor had to actually WANT your business. If they were taking to long to answer, then there is a problem. However, everyone should consider that most vendors are not in America, so there is a time difference.
2.The vendor shouldn't rush you. If the vendor is trying to rush you and say "BUY NOW" there's a automatic red flag. Obviously they are trying to take your money and run, or business isn't doing so good=/
3. The vendor should accept paypal. Now, this is my personal rule on my vendors. Especially if it was my first time with the vendor, or I have not heard of them. I am only paying through paypal. That way  I won't get scammed.
4. The wording of the products and the company name. Now some people may not think this is a big deal, but if a company didn't even word the product right, that can be misleading. Or if the name is a little weird( I heard some real weird names ie. BiPolar International...wtf.lol) I'm not doing business. Also, if they can't even do there english correctly, we still have a problem. They need to take the time and go to google translate.lol
5. And lastly, you should really pay attention to the pictures. Now, I bought some "Brazilian hair" from a vendor on Alibaba. But when I started looking around the site. They had multiple pictures that just repeated itself. I also told the girl who was sending my hair that I wanted a picture of it in the package. She sent me one, but it was a fake, and not the picture of my hair. She was lucky my hair was still nice or I would have been pissed. These little changes and things they do may seem subtle, but they are factors in telling you what kind of company you are dealing with.

You should ALWAYS pay close attention to the vendors site. Never give them the benefit of doubt. They don't call it Alibaba for nothing.( Look up Alibaba and the 40 thieves.lol) However, not all the vendors are horrible. You just have to do your research. Most of the people who do order from Alibaba, order from CVs(Chinese Vendors) because they accept Paypal and are more honest. However, you can always take a plunge and order from the IVs(Indian Vendors). But if you are on your first purchase ever from Alibaba, I don't suggest this because more than likely, you will get burnt.

There are many helpful sources out there that help with the "Alibaba process". But I just want this blog to be one of them. Almost daily, I will try to get different reviews about the companies that you might encounter on that vast site. Hope it will help, I know if I had it when I started, I would have loved it!

Peace, love, and blessings from above,

Protective Styling: Braids

Braids Braids Braids!!
I think this style can be beneficial and help your hair grow. BUT this style can also cause balding around your temple area.

Braids are used as a protective styling because thats what they do, protect. They protect your hair from your ECD(excessive combing disorder)lol.  And since your not combing and brushing your hair as much, your mane gets to retain its growth! But for some people, like me, braids don't make their hair grow as much right? I was always wondering what was wrong and why my hair was not growing. And this can be caused by so many things.
 A couple are:
1. Your not oiling your hair in the braids.
2. Your braids are WAY too tiny and when you take them out, your hair comes out too.

Oiling the hair should not be that difficult at all. Actually it should be the most easiest and constant thing we do. As  black women, our hair NEEDS oils. There is no way to get around this.

As for the braid size.Look, I know you want the braids tiny so they don't look like braids, but what would you rather have, a bald head or a full head? You don't have to make your braids dookie braids, but damn, just up it a little bit. Your hair will thank you.

From this

To this

Or, you can help you hair by doing Senegalese  twists! They are easy and very healthy. The twist put less stress on your hair and allow it to be a little more flexible and free. I love this style more than braids now!

If you don't know what they look like here's a picture.

Well. Thats it for today's segment on braids!!!

Weaves Weaves Weaves Tips #1

You come here cause your scared you have a bad weave right? And you want to blend it right? Well come on and I some tips for ya!

"Alter Ego, I have relaxed hair, and my weave is curly/wavy, and my hair is just not blending!"
Your weave is curly/wavy, you have relaxed hair, and its not blending....hmmmmm

Wavy/Curly hair can be hard to blend with relaxed hair, because the hair is straightened chemically, which causes the hair, whenever wet, to have very straight ends(not cute!).
So I would suggest this to do the following:
-Do a bantu knot out or a twist out in your hair.If you do this to your hair and the weave together, your hair and the weave will look as if it is one and it will be easier to blend it, instead of trying to wear a scarf over your head or something of the sort. You can achieve this look whether your hair is dry or wet. It will look the same. I have included a video at the bottom to help you out. I would suggest doing the style over night, or atleast 5-7 hours before your appointed event.

This also goes for Natural Hair too with the Kinky Curl !!

"How can I make sure my tracks don't show?"

I really have no idea....lol just kidding! No really you just need to be careful. There is no tutorial for this. If you are doing your own hair, you need to take your time and  not be sloppy! You get the result of the effort you put in! If your stylist did it, well you need to go to that heffa and get your money back! Just sayin. But if you want to know how to put the track back in. Its very simple.

Get some needle and thread, and sew along the braid. Its as if your tightening your hair.

"UGh! I must have gotten a bad weave because my hair is shedding so much, what do I do?"

I don't think you have a bad weave, it could be the method you/stylist put your hair in. Besides the hair being bad, there are two other ways your weave is shedding so much.
1. You cut the track when placing it.
2. You didn't seal the wefts.

Now your probably thinking " Well, aren't you suppose to cut the tracks" Actually, no you don't have to. There is another method called the folding method(among other various ones) that can also be used. It is really hard to explain over text, however I have a video below. It reduces the shedding that is causes from cutting the wefts.

The second method I talked about was sealing the wefts. This process is done BEFORE INSTALLATION. So before you go to your stylist, you seal your wefts. The process is shown below.

Some brands that people use to seal wefts are Arleene's Stop Fraying , Dritz Fray Check, Hair Extensions sealant(hairextensions101.com), and June Tailor Fray Block. Almost all of these can be found at your local Joanns,Michaels,or Walmart.

Weaves Weaves Weaves Part 1: White look Perfected by Black Style

Why must we wear weaves? Are we unhappy with ourselves? Do we want to look like the Europeans? What benefit does it bring us? Does it help or enhance our features?

Personally, I love weaves. They enhance our natural beauty. Some say it is a way for us to try to look like Europeans. But I personally think, its a way to enhance our own beautiful natural hair. Sometimes people abuse weaves(like my grandmother) and sometimes people use weaves as a catalyst for hair growth( like Angela Simmons). Weaves, or extensions or wigs, have impacted the black community for a LONG time, going as far back as the ancient Egyptian times. The method we all know as weaving, was created in 1950 by Christina Jenkins( that is sure as hell a black name. lol).Although it was way different than what it is today, it was a stepping stone to perfect, The Black Hair.

Anyway, enough with the history. What are we really going to talk about? Well, I want to ask, how many times have you looked at someone, you know them or not, and then say, "That's a horrible weave" and then shake your head. Have you wondered if it has happened to you? Maybe. All us black people know what's a weave and what's not, most of the time we just have to take a glance and already know by length and texture. And some of us can even tell when its synthetic! That's a hell of a eye, if you ask me. I know when I see that I just want to grab that person, take then home, and then fix that rats nest for them! Its a strong urge to ignore.Well, at least for me.

Alter ego how do I know if I have a bad weave?

Its simple, and a couple of test will tell.
Are your tracks showing?

Baby you got a bad weave

Does your hair not blend?

Baby, you got a bad weave

My tips for this........

1. Stop being cheap. Your hair is an accessory that came FOR FREE! You are born with this and you will die with it. This is the only accessory that you have that is truly personalized to YOU. It is an investment that you need to be committed to, or you can just go bald....it worked for Amber Rose. =/

2." I can't do my hair, and stylist are so expensive" If you don't know how to do you hair, learn! There are so many sources out there that will help you(including this one). If you need tips on how to cornrow, blend, dye, weave, stitch, make your own wig, there are so many sources out there!

3. "But Alter Ego, I don't know where to start" Start on the next post. Its called "Weaves, Weaves, Weaves Tips #1" So many sources out there, but you need to know how to research it all.

4. " Okay, but hair is so expensive" That's why its called an investment. However, there are ways to get the hair you want for a lower price. If you want to know where to get it, and if you serious, I suggest you go searching and looking on forum.blackhairmedia.com on the Weaves/Extensions(Newbies) area. The ladies there are very knowledgeable. And whatever I don't cover on here, they will surely cover on there.

A Blog Dedicated to My People

Hello all!!

Well, I decided to come up with a blog today for some strange reason at 12 am in the morning. lol. I guess I wanted to start this because so many of us black women are obsessed with our hair, no matter if its long or if it is short. We love or hair, it is out accessory EVERYWHERE. So why not blog about it. Why not share the knowledge and tips I have with other people who want to know?

I mean, what in the hell got me up to do a blog. I guess I started thinking about my precious little cousins. And how they are just so adorable and cute. But the only thing, THE ONLY THING, that i don't like about them is their hair. I mean their mother has them looking crazy. They have these half done braids or cornrows in their hair and their mother sends them to school thinking that's all right. Its not. And this kind of thinking is the reason why we see so many little girls, or teenagers, with there hair badly broken off. Because the knowledge that should have went from mom to daughter about how to take care of your hair was never there. The kids don't know what to do with their hair so they try to imitate whats on tv, then that just makes things worse and then brings frustration. Which then leads to kids helpless with broken off hair, and when they are older they run to weaves and braids, breaking off their hair more, because they put these styles in not knowing what else to do.

Now don't get me wrong. I love braids and weaves(I have some in now). But don't you wonder why you see black women who wear braids and weaves and their hair is still badly damaged? Its because they don't know the fundamentals of basic hair growth and maintenance.

Black hair is a wild beast, that has to be tamed and spoiled. You have to nurture it, give it food to live, and take care of it. You have to know what you shouldn't do with it and what you should do with it. What works and what doesn't work. And most importantly, you have to know how it behaves, because all hair is different.

Anyway. I will cover these topics more in detail as time goes on. But I just wanted to introduce myself, let you guys know how it is, and why I'm doing this. I hope I will get many subscriptions and even if I don't, I'm still going to give the info to those who need it, whether your hair is natural, relaxed, in braids, in weaves, in wigs, or colored, I got you!

Peace, love, and let God Bless you,

Alter Ego
